New Hardeman County 911 Dispatch Almost Ready
Ten years after a consolidation of 911 was agreed upon, dispatchers are scheduled to begin operations at a new facility in August.
The new location, in the same building as 911 supervisor Carrie Thigpen, will begin testing on August 11, with hopes of transferring over all operations soon after.
Thigpen says they will be operational with a staff by August 11, but added they are still taking applications for positions. Thigpen says part-time dispatchers from other counties will be used until a full-time staff is established.
The move from the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department leaves the area that has doubled as the 24-hour reception area unmanned, but Hardeman County Sheriff John Doolen hopes the Hardeman County Commission will help provide funding for a reception staff.
