
Cordovez Wins Spelling Bee
Chloe Cordovez of Bolivar Middle School won the 2023 Hardeman County Spelling Bee on January 30, beating 17 other competitors at Bolivar Central High School.
Cordovez won the competition in the fifth round, spelling “masa” to give her the title.
Second was Mason Sowder of Toone Elementary, third was Aubrey Mayhue of Bolivar Elementary and Layla Howell of Bolivar Middle School took fourth.
Cordovez is the third Bolivar Middle School student to win in the last five years as Abdul Alashmali in 2020 and Kaylee Bryant in 2019 won it for Bolivar Middle.
Defending champion Hunter McMahan of Toone Elementary finished tied for 12th.
