County Team Wins Region Championship

The Hardeman County 4-H Meats Judging Team consisting of Tatianna Ly (Bolivar), Anna Lucas (Bolivar), Trinity Watkins (Middleton) and Catherine Gibson (Toone) was crowned as Western Region Champions on Thursday, February 16th. The contest was held at the West TN Research and Education Center in Jackson.

The contest consisted of 30 Retail ID cuts of beef, pork and lamb. They also were asked to judge a class of Ribeye Steaks, Lip-on and a class of Pork Loin Chops, answering questions on both classes.

All four competitors placed in the top 5 individually with Catherine Gibson (pictured right) being named high individual overall for the event. As individuals, Trinity Watkins placed 2nd, Tatianna Ly placed 3rd and Anna Lucas finished 5th. These ladies will move on to the 4-H State Meats Judging Contest held on the UTK Campus in June.
