On Sunday, November 18 there was another grand celebration for Brother Hoover Bowden on his upcoming 95th birthday (November 20th). He is currently a resident of Pleasant View Health Care Center in Bolivar, but he was taken to Whiteville to the home of his nephew and wife, Pastor Gene and Sister Linda Bowden. Many family
members and friends shared the afternoon with him and extended spiritual wishes to the honoree.
   
He is the only surviving sibling in his family and he still sings and prays mightily to God for his life. He thoroughly enjoys conversing with others and reminiscing about earlier days with his sharp thinking.  Mr. Bowden is a veteran of World War II.  He is a member of New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church (Pastor Nathan Gibbs) in Middleton and also a member of Independent Society #3.

Mr. and Mrs. Mark Cooper of Middleton announce the engagement and forthcoming marriage of their daughter Kassie Elaine to Jared Wayne Hunter, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Hunter of Middleton.
   
The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mrs. Helen Stanley and the late Mr. Hence Stanley of Bolivar and the late Mrs. Garlene Cooper Dawson and the late Mr. Boyd Cooper of Middleton. Kassie is a 2009 graduate of Middleton High School and is currently employed with Merchants & Planters Bank in Middleton as a teller.
