Raises Yes, Tax Increase No

The City of Bolivar passed a balanced budget with no tax raise and a three-percent pay increase for employees during the June 27 meeting at the Bolivar Municipal Center.
The tax rate stayed at $1.1542.
“I’m happy we were able to provide a cost of living increase without raising taxes on the citizens,” said Mayor Julian McTizic.
The vote on the budget was the final vote for councilpeople Tracy Byrum and Tommy Woods, who chose not to run in the 2019 election.
