Two Qualify for State Tournament

Bolivar Central’s Will Zawacki (left) and Carson Daniel (right) qualified as individuals for the TSSAA State Championships the Regional tournament on September 30 at Persimmon Hills GC in Sharon.

Daniel qualified for the fourth time in four years with a championship score of 68, while Zawacki shot 77 to grab the third and final spot in the championship.

“Carson and Will both played well at regional and all season,” said Bolivar Central Golf Coach Jordan Stack. “They had a goal of reaching the state tournament, and they both accomplished one of their goals but the job is not done yet. I am very excited to see them compete against some of the best golfers in the state. Both young men competed with grit and determination, and that will need to be the standard next week at State.”

Bolivar’s team shot 321, 12 shots behind winner McKenzie. Only one team per region qualifies for the state championship. Also competing for Bolivar were Collin Maybury (87), Bryce Madden (89) and Travis Sowder (105).

The state tournament is scheduled for October 7-8 at Sevierville Golf Club.
