Ballot is Filling Up

All spots in the Bolivar City Elections have candidates for May of 2025 as four more candidates have picked up in the last week.

Incumbent Melvin Golden will face Jessie Gibson for District A, Position 3, while Betty Golden will challenge incumbent Tommie Woods for District A, Position 4.

Incumbent Mike Brown picked up for District B, Position 4 to join Bert Davis, who picked up in early January.

Incumbent Suzanne Rhea picked up for District B, Position 2 and is, as of this writing, unopposed.

The race for mayor is also a one-candidate race as of press time as only incumbent Mayor Julian McTizic has declared intentions to run.

McTizic, elected in 2017 over incumbent Barrett Stevens with 53% of the vote was re-elected in 2021 with 75% of the vote over challenger Caroline Miller.

Petitions are due February 20. On the ballot are the mayor’s spot plus four council positions, currently held by Woods, Rhea,  Golden, and Brown. The other four council spots Caroline Miller, Todd Lowe, Larry McKinnie, and Chris Williams) are scheduled to be on the ballot in 2027.

Early voting begins April 30, with Election Day scheduled for May 20. The last day to register to vote is April 20.
