Hunter McMahan of Toone Elementary held off fifteen other finalists to take the Hardeman County Spelling Bee on January 24 at Bolivar Central High School.
McMahan defeated second place finisher Kylon Wilson of Bolivar Elementary School in the fifth round.

The final contestants were qualified through spelling bees held at eight Hardeman County Schools. The final was broadcast on WMOD-Radio.
