Tiger Baseball Making Progress
Middleton High School Tiger baseball’s first victory of the 2019 season, a 6-3 win over Bradford High School on Saturday, March 23, came just in time for Head Coach Terry Mills.
“We have had a slow start to the season including playing two of the best teams we will face all year in the first two days we have played. Saturdays game, even though it definitely wasn’t played great on our part, gave the guys some confidence and got the monkey off everybody’s back,” said Mills.
“I expect that to take some pressure off the guys in the future and I think we are going to have a really good season despite starting slow,” he added.
Mills says his team is a mixture of old and young.
“We have five seniors, four juniors, and lots of sophomore and freshmen. We routinely start two sophomores and have one freshman who is always in the mix in the lineup.”
Mills, who is in his sixth season coaching at either Middleton Middle School or at the high school, says he doesn’t believe he has seen the best his players can produce.
“They are a great group of kids and a great group of ball players that have not played up to their potential yet. They are a great group of young men. They represent their school and their county well. I am very proud of all of them.”
