Middleton Ladies out of state tourney

The Middleton Lady Tigers volleyball team’s hopes of a state title came to an abrupt end with two straight losses on the opening day of the TSSAA Class A State Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday, October 21, in Murfreesboro, losing 3-0 to Concord Christian in the morning, and then losing 3-0 to Eagleville in the evening.
Middleton kept it close in the first two sets against Concord Christian, who were out of East Tennessee, losing 25-15, and 25-18, but ran out of steam in the third set, losing 25-4. Kira Collier and Polly Dowty led the effort with four kills each, while Megan Leslie had 12 assists.
“We actually played well, but came up against a better team in Concord Christian,” Middleton Head Coach Zeke Craft said.
In an elimination game on Wednesday evening, Middleton faced Eagleville out of Rutherford County in a much closer match, but still failed to win a set, losing 25-16, 25-19, and 25-20.
“We played hard, but at the end of the day, Eagleville was a little better than us,” Craft said.
Middleton finished the season with a record of 27-9.
“It was a great season for us. We improved over last year, and I am happy. I Just wish we could have done a little better at state,” Craft Said.
Middleton has a lot to look forward to next year. The Lady Tigers are only losing two seniors, Christian Woods and Jazmine Cosby, and will be returning several veteran players next season.
