Middleton ladies one step away from return to state

The Middleton Lady Tigers are one match away from a return to the Class A State Volleyball Tournament in Murfreesboro, after defeating Trinity Christian Academy (TCA) 3-1 for the Region 8A title in Jackson on Thursday, October 8.
“This is a huge win for us,” Middleton Head Coach Zeke Craft said after the game. “This is the first volleyball title that we ever won.”
The Lady Tigers won in four games, 25-23, 19-25, 26-24, and 25-19. Christian Woods had 15 kills, Jazmine Cosby had 12 kills two aces, Kira Collier had 12 kills, Polly Dowty had four kills four aces, and Megan Leslie had 31 assists.
“The girls played with a lot of heart tonight,” Craft said.
Middleton started the tournament off with a 3-0 win over Mitchell, 25-4, 25-7, 25-11. Christian Woods led the way with 10 kills three aces, Jazmine Cosby had six kills two aces, Polly Dowty had five kills three aces, Kira Collier had three kills, and Megan Leslie had two assists and 23 assists.
Earlier in the week, Middleton was host to the District 15A tournament, where they were the favorite to win. After an easy 3-0 win over Madison, 25-14, 25-9, 25-10, the Lady Tigers ran into a brick wall in TCA, falling 3-2 in five games 22-25, 25-18, 22-25, 26-24, and 8-15.
Up next for Middleton is the Class A Sub-state game, which will take place Thursday, October 15, in Middleton. The Lady Tigers will face the runner up of the region 7A tournament, either Halls, or Trenton Peabody.
