First Annual Steve Young Bowl

Friday's game served as the inaugural “Steve Young Bowl”.  This game is in honor and memory of Mr. Steve Young who had ties to several communities.  Steve was known as Coach Young to many students and student athletes both young and old.
Coach Young spent some of his earlier years with family in Hardin County before graduation from Bolivar Central High School.  Upon graduating from Memphis State, Coach Young began his career and became a vital part of the Hardeman County community having served 36 plus years as a coach, teacher, assistant principal, and deputy director of schools.  During those times, he molded countless lives of students in both classroom, churches, and especially on the football field.
Coach Young served our community as a county commissioner, the Parks and Recreation Director, worked with the Ambulance Service. Young also served on the Agriculture Extension, Re-Districting, tax, solid waste and animal control committees in our county.  Coach Young had and continues to have a positive influence on our community.  In honor and memory of Coach Young, we continue his motto of “Show Class, Have Pride, and Display Character in all that you do”.
