Whiteville Elementary School Kicks Butts

Kick Butts Day is a national day of activism on March 15, that empowers youth to stand out, speak up and seize control against Big Tobacco. On Kick Butts Day, teachers, youth leaders and health advocates organized events across the country to: Raise awareness of the problem of tobacco use in their state or community; Encourage youth to reject the tobacco industry's deceptive marketing and stay tobacco-free; and Urge elected officials to take action to protect kids from tobacco.
The Hardeman County Health Department held a Kick Butts presentation for Whiteville Elementary 5th grade students for National Kick Butts Day complete with a visit from Ciggy the cigarette. Each student was given a pencil and a folder containing facts about smoking and different games to learn the harmful effects of smoking.
