And to Think it All Happened at Toone Elementary

Students at Toone Elementary School enjoyed the week of February 27 as they honored Dr. Seuss for his birthday on March 2. Throughout the week, students wore special clothing to commemorate special books. Monday's book was Cat in the Hat, and favorite hats were worn; Tuesday's book was Fox in Socks, and silly socks were worn; Wednesday's book was Wacky Wednesday, and clothing was worn all mixed up; and Thursday children celebrated all books and dressed as their favorite character.
Students in grades pre-k-3 were paired with readers in grades 4-8, where they enjoyed 30 minutes reading together. An activity was planned along with the reading by 4th and 5th grade students.
They made “truffula” pencils with their reading buddies. Each student received a sweet treat, a yummy cookie, provided by the cafeteria staff, and a new book of their own. Miss King's Class had a special visit from “The Cat” from The Cat in the Hat!
