Richard Moorman McAnulty

Richard Moorman McAnulty, age 89, of Bolivar, passed away Thursday, September 3, 2015 at his home. Funeral services were held Sunday, September 6 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar with Blake White and Keith Hayworth officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Comfort Cemetery.
A native of Hickory Valley, he was the son of the late James Ashe and Lilla Jones McAnulty. He was a 1944 graduate of Grand Junction High School. After school, he served his country in the US Army during World War II. While in service, he was stationed in Europe having spent most of his tour of duty in France and Austria. Later in his life, he continued to be of service to his country as a Captain in the National Guard, as Director of the Hardeman County Civil Defense and was a member of the VFW. His brother, James David McAnulty, died in the war and Bolivar's VFW post is named in his memory.
On July 6, 1951, Mr. McAnulty was united in marriage to Jane Breeden, who survives. He served as an Elder in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, both in Hickory Valley and Bolivar. Mr. McAnulty worked in carpentry and was the building trade teacher at Middleton High School for 19 years.
