Mary A. Burnett

Mary A. Burnett passed from this life Saturday, September 19, 2015 at Henderson Health and Rehabilitation at the age of 87 years, seven months and 28 days.
Born Sunday, June 22, 1928 in Memphis, she was the daughter of Austin and Elsie Belle Farris Avent. She graduated from Bolivar Central High School and was married to the late Mr. Lushios E. Burnett, Jr. February 9, 1947, who passed on July 7, 2011. She worked as a cook at Bolivar Elementary School and cafeteria manager of Toone Elementary School. She then became a seamstress and was a patient care technician at Western Mental Health Institute. After her retirement she continued to volunteer as a seamstress at WMHI. She loved to travel with the Toone Senior Citizens, was a very active member of the Home Demonstration Club and volunteered at Pine Meadows. She was a member of Toone Baptist Church where she taught children's Sunday school and she lived all her life in Hardeman County.
