Lillian Eva Jones

Lillian Eva Jones was born December 12, 1930 in Tiperlverville, MS to William and Evie Blake. She married her husband Robert on December 23, 1946 and were married for 68 years. She moved to Flint with her husband in 1955 where they raised a family before moving back to Tennessee where she spent her final years. Funeral services was held Saturday, October 24, 2015 at Mt. Olive MB Church with Pastor Nathan Gibbs in charge. Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery - Saulsbury with Dixie Funeral Home (www.dixiefuneralhome.com) in charge of the professional service.
While living in Flint, MI, she belonged to First Union Baptist Church where she served faithfully as an usher for many years (Archie Powell, Pastor) and later became a member at New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church (Nathan Gibbs, Pastor) in Middleton. She was known for her beautiful, signature smile which she wore genuinely and regularly and her friendly, unselfish spirit. She was very active in her children's lives and was awarded with several plaques of distinction honoring only one parent annually for the most outstanding supporter. She received this honor for at least four years in recognition of two of her sons, who excelled in wrestling. Her attention to this gained her the respect and acknowledgement by all staff including officials, coaches, athletic directors throughout Flint, Genesee County and Saginaw Valley. She readily served as a den mother for five years with the cub scouts and boy scouts and also attended school PTA meeting. The community of children knew and appreciated her for the camping trips she took them on an especially her brownies that she often baked.
