Dorothy Stewart Williams

Dorothy Stewart Williams, age 83 of Bolivar, formerly of Memphis, died Jan. 21, 2016 in her home.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Jan. 24, 2016 at Shackelford Funeral Directors of Bolivar's Main Chapel with Pastor William Marshall officiating. Interment followed in Reaves Cemetery near Middleton.
She was the wife of Dr. James R. Williams, who preceded her in death in 2003.
Dorothy was born on Oct. 3, 1932 in Middleton. She was the daughter of the late W.D. and Athalia McBride Stewart. She grew up in Middleton, raised her family in Memphis, and retired in Bolivar.
Dorothy worked for South Central Bell Telephone Co. for over 30 years. She volunteered her time with Gideons International Auxiliary, Christian Chiropractic Association, and the Hardeman Co. Baptist Association Disaster Relief. She was a member of Dixie Hills Baptist Church, where she loved to serve. She was also an avid gardener.
