Disappointing finish to a disappointing season
The Bolivar Central Tigers Boys' season came to an end on Tuesday, Feb. 16, with an 84-79 loss to the McNairy Central Bobcats at home in the opening round of the District 14AA Tournament.
“It was a disappointing end to a disappointing season,” Bolivar Head Coach Rick Rudesill said.
The Tigers were able to keep up with the Bobcats in the first quarter and the two teams were knotted 15-15 at the end of the period. McNairy began to take control of the game in the second quarter and led by eight points at the break. The two teams were evenly matched in the third quarter, and Bolivar cut McNairy's lead to seven points going into the final quarter. McNairy regained control early in the fourth and built a double digit lead until late in the fourth when Bolivar managed to hit several three-pointers and were able to cut the Bobcat's lead to five points, but it was too little too late, as Bolivar fell 84-79.
Our shooting and decision making were horrible tonight,” said Rudesill. “We were 0-7 from 3-point range in the first half, and McNairy came out and did exactly what they had to do.”
