Sea of Lights Honors Morris
The Hardeman County Rescue Squad honored one of their own with a Sea of Lights procession in honor and memory of John David "Moose" Morris for his service to the county.
The Rescue Squad honored Morris with this statement, "We lost a good man, our brother. brother. Moose has been a part of our rescue family for nearly 30 years. He was a very dedicated member up until his illness no longer allowed him to make calls. Even then, we carried him with us with because Moose was one of our instructors, and with all of the knowledge that he instilled in us it was like he was with us on every call. Moose, you are loved and you will be missed. Go rest now brother, we'll take it from here."
The Sea of Lights procession was held Monday night and included 38 vehicles from Hardeman, Fayette, McNairy, Madison, and Decatur counties. The procession traveled from Bolivar to Whiteville and then down Old Highway 64 past the Morris family home.
Morris was very active serving his community as a first responder, Whiteville firefighter for 23 years, and the Hardeman County Rescue Squad member for 28 years. He was an expert instructor in vehicle extraction, Vanessa Kay Free Emergency Services Training, EVOC, CPR and First Aid.
