Summertime...The Reading is Easy
Summer reading program participants at Middleton and Grand Junction spent time with furry, feathered, and other animal friends at last week’s program. At Middleton, Chickasaw State Park Ranger Mary Catherine Walker introduced the children to Jack, a barred owl. Jack came to live in one of the park’s aviaries after the tree containing his nest was cut down. Children also enjoyed a visit from local author K. Turner who read her book Please Don’t Crush. Summer reading programs continue at the Middleton Community Library during the month of June on Thursdays at 11:00 a.m.
Over in Grand Junction, young readers enjoyed stories, crafts, and a visit from a furry friend of the library, Moose. Moose, a certified therapy dog, is an English Cream Golden Retriever. He worked for many years at the West Clinic in Memphis with patients who were undergoing chemotherapy. His mom, Marla Monroe of LaGrange, says he loves library time and enjoys working with children of all ages. Summer reading programs continue at the Grand Junction Library during the month of June on Thursdays at 2:00 p.m.
