Williams Announces Move

Bolivar Central Football Coach Hayden Williams has accepted the head coaching job at Humboldt High School for the 2024 season.

“Bolivar Central High School has been my home for four years. From early morning practices, to long nights on R.A. Butler Field, I have many fond memories of this great place and the great people I’ve met along the way,” he said. “From where we started to where we finished, I feel great about the direction of this program and I’m just grateful to have been a part of it. I feel like this program is in a much better place now as opposed to when I took over so I am happy about that.”

Williams’ first two years as head coach saw Bolivar go 2-16 after he took over an 0-10 team. His third year, 2023, saw his club go 6-4, narrowingly missing the TSSAA playoffs while giving Bolivar their first winning year since 2017. Williams came to Bolivar as an assistant coach in 2020.

“I want to extend a huge thank you to Mark Fulghum who hired me as the Head Coach in the first place. I will always love this town, the players, and staff at Bolivar Central high School. I also want to thank every player who played for me the past four years. You are the reason things are going in the right direction, you are the foundation of this program and the reason for the future success,” he added,

“I want to thank Coach Williams for the impact that he’s had on the players and the coaching staff at Bolivar Central. He will be greatly missed,” said Fulghum, who added that the job has been posted to the TSSAA website.

Williams, who lives in Alamo, said he will have only a 15-minute commute to Humboldt.

Bolivar will be looking to hire their fourth head coach since 2018, following Woodrow Lowe, Montrell Craft, and Willams.
