BEA Community Calendar for Week of 12/14/23

The Board of the Carl Perkins Exchange Club for the Prevention of Child Abuse is in need of donations, monetary or in the form of school supplies, hygiene items or canned goods. Contact Monica Goodman at 731-659-2373.

The Bolivar Hardeman County Branch of the NAACP is sponsoring an Expungement Clinic on Wednesday, January 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Carriage House Coffee Shop in Bolivar. The clinic is for those who have been convicted  of a crime in Hardeman County and have served their time, paid all fines and would like to clear their record.  For more information contact Lori Nelso at 731-433-8519.

The Hardeman County Arts Council will host Soundbox at the Hardeman County Arts Center on December 16, at 7:00 p.m. For more information, got to hcactn.org.

GED classes are being offered weekly at the Grand Junction Public Library, located at 530 Madison Ave W in Grand Junction. It opens at noon Tuesday-Friday. For more information call 731-764-2716.

Loaves and Fishes Food Bank needs all non-perishable food items. Call 609-2397 to drop off your donations. Canned fruit and protein items are most needed.

The Tennessee State University Hardeman County Alumni Chapter was chartered on October 1, 1973, and will celebrate fifty years of service to the University and Hardeman County students interested in matriculating at the University. To celebrate this milestone,  a Gala is planned at the Bolivar Municipal Center on Friday December 15, 2023 at 6:00 P.M.This promises to be a memorable semi-formal affair. Tickets are $50 per person. All proceeds will be used to further scholarship opportunities of Hardeman County students. Tickets may be purchased by contacting Major Wilburn at 731-609-0697 or Eunice Gudger at 731-609-6359 or any TSU Alumni Chapter Member. Charter members of the chapter included: Arthur Harris, Johnny Lake, Samuel Bufford, Ernest Wilburn, Major & Minerva Jarrett, Evelyn C & Hugholene Robertson and Major & Frankie Wilburn. Current Chapter President is Casandra Bufford.
