EMS Director John Weaver speaks at Bolivar 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony

Emergency personnel were recognized and honored on the 13th anniversary of 9/11 in Hardeman County on Thursday. Firefighters, police officers, and members from various units throughout the county were joined by emergency responders from Madison and Fayette Counties.

The 9/11 breakfast was followed by a parade of county fire trucks and emergency vehicles (along with Madison and Fayette Counties). Following the parade, emergency responders gathered at the Bolivar City Hall for a remembrance ceremony which included the singing of the national anthem, pledge of allegiance to the flag, prayer and a message from EMS Director John Weaver titled "Just Doing my Job." The event concluded with the release of 343 balloon (recognizing the 343 firefighters who died in the line of duty on 9/11) in spite of the rainfall.

We will have coverage of these events in next week's Bulletin-Times.
