Pleasant Run Arboretum to Open

The City of Bolivar will add an arboretum to the growing attractions at the Pleasant Run Creek Park with a ribbon cutting on August 24 at 10:00 a.m.. The city, led by Parks and Recreation Director Curtis Stack, successfully completed the requirements for a level one arboretum, with 38 tree species scattered throughout the park along a one-mile trail.
“A great deal of research and work was undertaken by the parks and recreation department staff to attain this certification. This is a wonderful accomplishment for the City of Bolivar and adds an additional attraction at Pleasant Run Creek Park,” said Mayor Julian McTizic.
“We would like to thank everyone who assisted us throughout the process of identifying and labeling the tree species throughout the park. We are extremely pleased to be opening this new section of the park,” added Stack.
