Live Entertainment Events Announced for Bolivar

Bolivar will get a series of concerts under the label “Open Air on the Square” from Ken Griggs who along with partners Tonet Griggs and Twanna Reaves who formed KAT Productions Inc., a new production company based in Bolivar. The group secured support of $4,250 for the rest of 2018 from the Bolivar Downtown Development Corporation (DEVCO) on July 30.
The Open Air on the Square idea was sparked by the Open-Air Concert with the inaugural event on Friday, September 22, 2017 featuring The Hamiltones who were introduced to the stage by the soulful Grammy Award winner Anthony Hamilton making their first ever appearance in Bolivar.
The Hamiltones are Anthony Hamilton’s longtime backup singers who are now national headliners playing to sold out shows across the country.
“Most of the community couldn’t believe that this could happen and some even rumored that Grammy winner Hamilton wouldn’t show up for a small town like Bolivar. Not only did he show up, he introduced his band and literally came off stage and into the audience for some friendly interaction with fans during the Hamiltones performance. Over 1,000 supporters were treated to the kind of concert that locals would normally travel to Memphis or Nashville to experience,” said Griggs.
