Students Interact with Government Agencies

The transition program at both BCHS and MHS implemented a new curriculum with their students called Be Safe by Teachtown. Be Safe is a curriculum to help teens and adults learn how to interact appropriately with law enforcement, as well as how to handle emergency situations. This video modeling curriculum utilizes evidence-based practices and provides each student with the appropriate skills necessary to respond safely and appropriately to community officers and professionals, increasing their safety, community integration, and independence.
To supplement the curriculum, a number of guest speakers have spoken to our work-based learning classes in both high schools including the Bolivar Fire Chief, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Hardeman County Sheriff's department, Middleton Police Department, Whiteville Police Department, and Hardeman County EMS. Bolivar Police Department and the Honorable W. Boyette Denton, Hardeman County General Session and Juvenile Court Judge and Hardeman County Director of schools Warner Ross will be our final guest speakers after the Thanksgiving Holiday.
