Traditional Hmong cultural dances and customs were part of the sixth annual Hmong New Year Celebration in Toone on Saturday, November 8. With guests from across the county coming to join the Hmong as they celebrated the end of the harvest season and the hope of the new coming year, Hmong celebrated and honored their culture by showcasing the rituals, customs and traditions of their heritage and culture.

“Everyone in America, except the American Indians, are immigrants to this great nation, but you people are a special group of immigrants,” said Barrett Stevens, Bolivar City Mayor, as he addressed the Hmong in Toone during their New Year Celebration on Saturday, November 8.
