Crowley Honored for Service
Major General Warner A. Ross, Tennessee Adjutant General conducted a promotion ceremony for another Hardeman County native this week. Robert Crowley was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel in the Tennessee National Guard.
During the ceremony, General Ross honored Crowley’s 31-plus years of service in both the United States Navy and the Tennessee National Guard. Crowley has also been a part of multiple trainings and deployments during his time with the National Guard.
General Ross said, “I have had the pleasure and the privilege of working with Robert in not only the military arena but in the education arena as well. When I was Director of the Hardeman County School System, Robert was a teacher at Toone Elementary School and his wife, Anna, was a teacher at Middleton Elementary School. Robert has excelled wherever he has been whether in the classroom, in training, or in deployment. He was an honors graduate of Officer Candidate School (OCS), and he takes the time to be the most prepared in whatever he does.”
Ross also thanked Crowley’s family for their support, service, and commitment to Crowley and all he has achieved. “Your service does not go unnoticed,” he said.
Lieutenant Colonel Crowley said he wanted to have this ceremony at home. “This place and so many people who have come here today are the ones who supported me as I started on this journey, and they have been with me along the way. I want to give a special thank you my wife Anna, and our children, John Robert, Gabby, and Vivian.”
Ross concluded the program by saying, “We didn’t just promote Robert because of what he has done but also for what we know he can do in the future.”
