Coming Back to Where She Started

The Bolivar Bulletin Times is happy to announce that Lisa Coleman is back at work, after almost 40 years.

She first went to work at the Bulletin Times in September of 1981, writing obituaries, community news, sports, general news reporting, a few feature stories, and a column called “8 to 5 Woman” featuring the women in Hardeman County.

Then, she went out and got a real job as opportunities in Public Relations and Marketing at the Bank of Bolivar, Whiteville Bank, and Volunteer Bank made themselves available. The State of Tennessee then called and she spent almost 25 years in the Department of Higher Education at Jackson State Community College and the Department of Mental Health at Western Mental Health Institute (WMHI).

Along the way, she wrote for The County Journal and the Bolivar Bulletin Times, writing “Hardeman County Remembered” from 2010 – 2018.  The column started out when she was researching information for her book “Images of America:  Hardeman County” which was published in 2012 by Arcadia Publishing.

After retiring from WMHI, she wandered back in to the Bulletin office, wondering whether her job was still available. And of course, it was.

“I am so glad to be back at the newspaper, and look forward to sharing the stories about Hardeman County and a few of my own thoughts each week in my new “Memories and Musings” column.  I have been writing stories for as long as I remember, and am glad my stories have again found their home with the Bulletin-Times,” she said.
