The photo of former Hardeman County Sheriff Delphus Hicks Jr, has been hanging in the CJC since the CJC was built. However, a formal dedication has never been held and on Saturday, December 5 at 4:30 p.m., the hallway proceeding from the courtrooms to the sheriff’s office will be dedicated in Hicks’ honor. Hicks was the first African-American sheriff in Tennessee.

CJC hallway to be named after Hicks

After spending more than 40 years in law enforcement and 24 years as sheriff, in a career he said he was not initially interested in pursuing, former Hardeman County Sheriff Delphus Hicks Jr. will receive a lasting honor as the county is set to dedicate a hallway in the Criminal Justice Complex
