Baby, It's Cold Outside on the Square

A chill ran across the Courthouse Square in Bolivar this week as 20 Below opened their doors for business and celebrated with a ribbon cutting.  Trip and Katie Berta, owners, brought their particular flavor and style of ice cream to town in the form of rolled ice cream.

The Bertas operated the business in a food truck for the past 3 years and decided to make the move to a more permanent location at 105 North Main Street.  Rolled ice cream is a popular ice cream concept that originated in Thailand. Rolled ice cream is made by hand by mixing and scraping an ice cream mixture on a frozen plate using a pair of metal spatulas. It has less air than regular ice cream and often contains less sugar.

20 Below has several ice cream pairings unique to their store including Campfire (marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate mixed in the ice cream), Cookie Monster (with Oreo cookies & cookie dough mixed in the ice cream), and Half Baked (with brownies and cookie dough mixed in the ice cream).  Ice cream aficionados can also make their own creations with various add-ins and toppings.

Check out their Facebook page for a full menu of offerings.  Hours are Tuesday-Thursday, 11:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m., Friday-Saturday, 11:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., Sunday, 11:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., and closed on Mondays.
