Lone Oaks Hosts Mayor’s Trail Ride

Calling the inaugural Mayor’s Ride at Lone Oaks this past Sunday “successful” would be more than an understatement. The weather featured clear skies, sunshine, and the temperature well above 70 degrees. Over one hundred riders and horses were present for the ride Sunday, all to see what Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain called ours: Lone Oaks. “You now own this facility. Everybody here owns this facility. It belongs to the University of Tennessee, so that’s us. That’s all of us,” Sain said during a meeting with all the riders. The ride was intended to show off the 1,200-acre farm. However, proceeds were collected for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital through selling commemorative shirts before the ride. The shirts were donated by Vaughan Oil and S&E Designs.
Lone Oaks was purchased by the University of Tennessee almost two years ago to serve as the future West Tennessee 4-H Camp and Conference Center.
