Bolivar Softball Begins

Six freshmen started for the Lady Tigers in their opening game of the season on March 18, a 15-0 loss to Adamsville. It’s a youth movement made necessary by graduation day in 2023.

“Graduating nine players (four of them starters) last year is tough on a team, but we were fortunate to pick up nine incoming freshmen, a sophomore, and a junior transfer that are all coming in with softball knowledge,” said Bolivar Central Head Coach Kim Emerson, adding the new district was a welcome sight as well.

“With the district realignment, we are in a good spot to compete well with those teams.”

The new district is made up of Bolivar, Lakeland Prep, Bolton, Fayette Ware, and Haywood. Three returning players will be counted on for leadership, said Emerson.

“With no seniors this year, I am looking for some great leadership from Emmy (Piefer), Keaton (Majors), and Leah (Smith),” she said.
