Tigers Begin Preparations

Bolivar Central Football began their summer practice sessions on May 29 as the program saw fourteen upcoming freshmen join the team workout.

Changes to the coaching staff have placed Head Coach Hayden Williams in charge of the offense for the upcoming season.

“We will run the same basic offense,” he said. “But we’ll have a few wrinkles and we’ll go under center every once in a while.”

Bolivar’s offense racked up 3,397 yards last season, 2,602 of it in the air.

Taking over the defense will be Terry Smith who served as both offensive and defensive coordinators at Halls High School before coming to Bolivar.

Smith, who has degrees from Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Christian Brothers University, also coached at Memphis Central, Raleigh-Egypt, and Rose Fort in Tunica, MS. He will teach Science at Bolivar Central High School.

Bolivar Central will open the season against Fayette Ware on August 18.
