Community Celebrates “Love Thy Neighbor”

Bolivar citizens gathered to celebrate each other on Saturday afternoon at Court Square in an old fashioned prayer meeting and picnic.  Area ministers, churches and city officials, regardless of denomination, came to embrace each other and show the love of Christ.
With the slogan of “Unity in the Community”, the Love Thy Neighbor was a prayer event for the community and a hope for revival.  Tonet Griggs, a coordinator for the Love Thy Neighbor event, spoke about why they wanted to have the event. “There has been so much negative things going on in the neighborhood and the nation, we decided to take back our community and love on one another on a religious-community bridge,” she said. Griggs also spoke about what she hopes for the future and what the youth can receive from the event. “We hope to bring the church and the community together in order to hold more events” and “We are hoping that the young people see Christ and they will receive Him in this area.”
