Wells Signs with Freed-Hardeman

Middleton Volleyball player Ariana Wells (front row right) signed May 11 with Freed-Hardeman University to become part of the Lady Lions squad this fall.
Wells was MVP of the district in 2019 after an all-district year in 2018. Her 2019 stats included 368 kills.
“Ariana started playing volleyball for me in the 10th grade,” began Middleton Coach Zeke Craft. “Over these past three years I’ve seen Ariana mature into a team leader who demonstrates focus and diligence. She is a product of her own hard work. Volleyball is a sport of fundamental ball control, which means a lot of repetition, repetition, and repetition. Ariana works hard and encourages her fellow teammates to do also. I could always trust her to lead and run our drills with the younger players. I know Ariana’s commitment and work ethics will follow her as she continues her studies at Freed Hardeman. Ariana was one of my team captains this year, her leadership qualities and love and concern for her teammates on and off the court earned her this honor. Ariana has matured as an athlete, but more important as a young woman with a vision to pursue her goals at the next level. I am so proud of Ariana Wells.”
Wells will play for 19-year veteran coach Todd Humphry.
Throughout his 18 seasons with the Lady Lions, Humphry has posted a 369-226 and currently ranks 22nd on the NAIA Most Winning Coaches list.
