Tigers Clinch District

Bolivar Central overcame a double-digit first-quarter deficit to clinch District 15AA, reaching the 100-point marker for the first time this season in the process, beating Covington 100-77.
Bolivar (16-5, 7-0) trailed 27-16 late in the first quarter but managed to get the deficit to 29-21 at the end of the quarter. Tied at 37 midway through the second quarter, Bolivar went on 19-11 run to lead at the half and outscored the Chargers 44-29 in the second half.
The Tigers were led by Toris Woods, who had 45 points and 21 rebounds, both career highs. Woods grabbed 18 offensive rebounds on the night.
“He just worked hard,” said Head Coach Rick Rudesill. “He worked his tail off.”
Bolivar’s last district championship came in 2011-2012 season, when they went 13-1 to take District 14AA. Bolivar’s last undefeated district season came in 2008-2009, when they went 10-0 in District 12AA.
Also on Tuesday, the Bolivar Lady Tigers (4-13, 1-7) fell 87-44 to the first-place Lady Chargers.
The Middleton Lady Tigers (1-10, 1-5) got their first victory of the season on Tuesday, beating Humboldt 39-37, while the Middleton (8-7, 3-4) boys team won 74-70 over Humboldt, vaulting them into 4th place in the district and a potential first-round home game in the District 14A tournament.
