Sub-State Dates

Middleton and Bolivar will play for their region titles and in the substate in the coming week, the first time both teams have made it this far in the same season since 2011.

Middleton, 24-2 on the season, gained the region final against Trenton Peabody on March 3 with a 69-40 win over Jackson Central Merry on February 28, while Bolivar overcame a seven-point, fourth-quarter deficit to beat Memphis Business Academy on March 1. Bolivar will face Memphis Douglas, also on March 3. Bolivar’s record stands at 20-9, having won 15 of their last 16 contests and ten in a row.

In 2011, Middleton finished second in the state with a 31-2 record, falling to Lake County in the State Class A final, while Bolivar’s season and quest for a repeat championship ended in the State AA semifinal, losing to East Nashville to finish 19-11 on the year.

The Middleton Girls fell 60-25 to Dresden in the first round of the region 7A tournament to end their season at 4-17, while Bolivar fell to Scotts Hill in the region 7AA semifinal by a 42-39 score. Bolivar finished the season 17-12.

Both Boys Teams Make Region Final
