RiverKings lose only home playoff game 3-2 to Ice Flyers, still advance to finals

The Mississippi RiverKings lost their only home playoff game in the opening round of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) playoffs to the Pensacola Ice Flyers 3-2 in overtime on Friday, April 3. The RiverKings still won the best of three series 2-1, after winning the first game on Wednesday, April 1, in Pensacola 3-2 in double overtime, then winning the deciding game 2-1 on Saturday, April 4, in Pensacola.
The RiverKings were hoping to put the series away on their home ice, but Pensacola would not give up. The Ice Flyers took only 2:13 into the first period to score the first goal of the game, when Nick McParland got the puck past RiverKings goalie Peter Di Salvo. The RiverKings got the goal back at 5:13 into the period when Matt Harrington scored, with assistance from Leo Thomas and Matt Whitehead.
