Middleton Mauls McNairy Central

The Middleton Lady Tigers and Tigers each struggled a bit early, but quickly found their pace and pummeled McNairy Central on December 13 in Selmer.
The Lady Tigers (5-3, 2-1) were tied with McNairy at 6-apiece after a quarter, but a stiffling defense and offensive rebounding led by senior center Chelsey Perry led to a 51-24 win. Perry finished with 12 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocked shots. Sequoia Warren  (pictured right) led Middleton with 18 points, 17 of them in the second half.
Coach James Burkley attributed the first quarter struggle to a variety of players on the floor.
“We are trying to get our rotation going, we are starting a freshman we are still trying to figure it out,” said Coach James Burkley. “Our guard play is not where it needs to be.”
The boys (7-1, 3-0) rode a 25-7 run in the second quarter to win 63-44. Middleton led by as much as 34 in the third quarter and played all 12 available players.
“We’ve got a bunch of players fighting for playing time. That’s a good thing,” added Burkley. “We’ve got several guys pushing each other.”
Tylandrius Parks led Middleton with 18 points, 12 rebounds, 4 blocked shots and 6 assists.
