Middleton ladies’ woes continue

The  Middleton Lady Tigers softball team had a short but disappointing week, losing both sides of a double header to South Side at home on Tuesday, April 21, 18-0 in the early game, and 5-2 in the nightcap.
In the opening game,  South Side scored six runs in the second inning, four runs in the third inning and eight runs in the fourth inning, for a total of 18 runs on just 15 hits with one error. Middleton failed to score. They did manage three hits, but committed eight errors in the loss.
Jazmine Cosby led the effort for Middleton, going 2-2 at the plate, while Polly Dowty was 1-2.
Middleton managed to do a little better in the night cap, but still ended up on the short end of the stick.
Both teams scored one run in the first inning. Middleton actually took the lead by scoring a run in the second, but South Side put the game away in the third, scoring four runs in the inning to secure the victory. Middleton finished the game with two runs on two hits with three errors, while South Side finished the game with five runs on just four hits with no errors.
Ragon Roberts was 1-1 at the plate, while Rachel Tranum was 1-2. Kayleigh Lanier was 0-1, but scored a run, Megan Leslie was 0-1 with one RBI, and Chelsea Tranum was 0-0 with one run scored.
Middleton’s record is now 0-20 for the year. They are scheduled to host Trinity on Wednesday, April 29 at 5 p.m., before finishing their regular season on Thursday,  April 30 on the road to McNairy Central.
