Lady Tigers Prepare for New District

The Bolivar Central Lady Tigers have plenty of holes to fill after losing their top two scorers and leading rebounder from last season’s 5-16 club. And new coach Rob Parsons says they will prepare for a district 13AA with a tough opening schedule.

“I’m excited for this upcoming season. I’ve challenged these girls from day one to compete and to get better every single day. We have a tough non district schedule and are playing mostly AAA schools to prepare us for district play,” he said.

And while the new district (Adamsville, Decatur County Riverside, Madison Academic, and Scotts Hill) is new to the Lady Tigers, it’s not new to Parsons.

“I am very familiar with these teams, their play style, and these schools have historically good girls programs. However, if we can bring in the tenacity and fight that I have seen out of these girls so far, I think we can be very competitive throughout our entire season.”

Leading scorers from last year are junior Chloe Griffin at 6.3 per game and sophomore Nevaeh Bunch at 4 per contest.

Parsons can’t wait to see his team on the floor.

“I look forward to the brand of basketball that we are bringing to our fans and community and look forward to some packed houses in B-Town!”
