Lady Tigers Make Regionals

The Bolivar Central Lady Tigers beat Ripley twice over a three day period to gain a berth in the region tournament with a second place finish in the district tournament.
Friday the Lady Tigers won a see-saw 11-10 win and Monday was more of the same as Bolivar held on for a 13-12 victory.
Head Coach Kim Emerson said she saw potential in her team.
“I felt as if we had a slow start due to weather, state tournament and spring break, but began to find a groove that first week back from the break and didn’t look back. I believed in them from the beginning and just needed them to find the confidence in themselves. So proud of them for fighting and ultimately finishing runner up in the district and qualifying for the region,” she said.
The Lady Tigers placed Sydni Aylor and Shelby Woods on the all-district team, Aylor, Woods, and Mary Margaret Ross, and Brooklyn Jimmerson on the all-academic team and Riley Phillips, Jimmerson, and Ross on the all-tournament team.
Bolivar will face Memphis Melrose in the first round of the region tournament, scheduled to begin May 17.
