With no one over six feet tall for the Lady Tigers, it looked like a problem to Rick Rudesill when Harding Academy had two players taller than him, both going at least 6’5”.
“When I walked in I noticed they had some big girls,” he said. “So we had to play fast and get in their face on defense all over the floor,” explained Rudesill. “In the half court, we were overmatched.”
It worked as the Bolivar defense and shooting 8-19 from the three point line eventually wore down the resolve of the Lady Lions in the Lady Tigers’ 60-57 victory.
Hailey Hardaway led Bolivar with 34 points, 26 of them in the second half, while Dekiya Jarrett had four three pointers and 16 points.
The boys struggled early on offense and fell 78-75, but not before mounting a furious comeback that came up short. Antavious Shaw led Bolivar with 14 points and six rebounds.
Bolivar will be off until November 27, hosting Chester County. Bolivar added a game to their schedule, and will host Bolton on November 30. They are expected to make up the West Carroll game postponed by weather on November 17 on January 4.
