City of Middleton Dedicates Ballpark

The Hardeman County Youth Commission, with help from a Tennessee ThreeStar Grant, saw the dedication of a new T-Ball field for Middleton on October 14.
On hand to dedicate the field were Hardeman County Mayor Jimmy Sain, Tennessee State Senator Dolores Gresham, Middleton Mayor Jackie Cox, and members of the Youth Commission.
“Thanks to the City of Middleton employees and Board of Alderman, our Woman’s Club, Lion’s Club; and Civitan Club for always being there with a helping hand. And thanks to all the city’s businesses, both new and established, for their encouragement and support. It truly takes everyone to make dreams a reality,” said Cox.
Cox also thanked Billy Spencer and EP Minerals, Johnny Lanier and Richie Yopp of Middleton Fiberglass for materials and support.
The ThreeStar Grant supplied funds for the fence, sod, bleachers, and concrete, while others provided the rest of the elements, including infield dirt supplied by EP Minerals that is effectively the same as used by the St. Louis Cardinals and San Diego Padres.
The inaugural game was played by teams coached by Bobby Hensley and Justin Campbell. The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Department provided the refreshments.
The Youth Commission also voted to build a park in Bolivar, but plans and a site have yet to be finalized, according to Mayor Sain.
