Boys Add District Tournament Titles

Bolivar and Middleton’s boys basketball teams both won their district tournament titles for the first time since the 2012 season, a week after both won the regular season for the first time since 2010.

Middleton defeated Trenton-Peabody February 21, 74-62 for their first district tournament championship since 2018, when they beat Peabody 62-59, while Bolivar’s 69-54 win over Scotts Hill, also on February 21, gave them their second district tournament championship in the last two years.

Both teams will host first round region games, with Middleton hosting Gleason on February 25 at 6:30 p.m. and Bolivar hosting MLK Prep on February 26 at 7:00 p.m. Bolivar will host the remainder of the region, while Middleton will have to go back to Peabody for their region.

Both Bolivar and Middleton’s girls teams advanced to the regionals with third place finishes in their district. Middleton will travel to Dresden on Febuary 24, while Bolivar will go on the road to Trezevant on February 25.

The Middleton girls placed senior Brankayle Mason and junior Janiya Woody on the all-district team, while sophomore Morgan Talley made the all-tournament team.

Bolivar had junior Chloe Griffin and sophomore Navaeh Bunch make all-district, while senior Desiree Cross was placed on the all-district tournament team.
