Bolivar Wins Middle School Softball

The Bolivar Middle School Softball rode a hot pitcher and won the Hardeman County Middle School tournament in Bolivar on October 3.
Bolivar trailed Middleton 5-1 in the second inning of the final game and faced a bases loaded situation when Coach Natalie Porterfield brought in Isabella Lax, who got a inning ending groundout.
Bolivar then scored eight runs in the bottom half of the second to lead 9-5, while Lax struck out three over the next two innings. Bolivar added three more in the fourth inning before Audrey Wells came on to pitch a scoreless final inning to preserve the win. Wells had three hits and three RBI’s in the game as well.
Bolivar reached the final with an opening game 9-2 win over Toone. Lax pitched all four innings, striking out nine and walking five in the win. Allyson Watkins led the offense for Bolivar, going 2 for 2 with three RBI’s and a walk.
Middleton’s path to the final was an 18-3 win over Hornsby. Brittan Dawkins pitched a complete game for the win.
Bolivar and Middleton had split their regular season games.
