Bolivar ladies streak ends at three games
The Bolivar Central Lady Tigers won their third straight game, easily defeating Jackson North Side 66-15 at home on Tuesday, December 8, before losing at home to Haywood 72-59 on Saturday, December 12.
In Tuesday’s game against Jackson North Side, Bolivar took command early, and never let up, they led by 12 points after the first period, 28 points at half time, and 47 points by the end of the game for the easy 66-19 win.
Kenylsha Bryant led all scorers with 14 points, while Alexius Futrell added 12 points. A total of 11 Lady Tigers scored in the win.
In Saturday’s game against Haywood, Bolivar fell behind early, and could never quite get back into the game. Haywood led by nine points after the first period and at the break, then broke the game wide open in the third period and went into the final stanza leading by 17 points Bolivar was able to gain back four points in the final period, but it was nowhere near enough, as they fell by 13 points, 72-39.
The Lady Tigers are now 3-5 for the season.
The Bolivar Central boys are still searching for their first win of the season, losing twice at home last week, 101-79 to Jackson North Side on Tuesday, December 8, then losing to Haywood 70-33 on Saturday, December 12.
In Tuesday’s game, the Tigers kept it close in the first period, but were still down by seven points at the end of the period. North Side put the game out of reach in the second period, and led by 21 points at the break. Bolivar played better in the third period, cutting North Side’s lead by one point. North Side gained two points in the final period for a 22 point 101-79 win.
Detravion Burkley led the effort for Bolivar with 16 points, followed by Demarkus Merrell and Christian Clark with 13 points each.
Things did not get any better for Bolivar in Saturday’s game against Haywood. Bolivar found themselves in a seven point hole after the first period, that was increased to 19 points at half time. Things only got worse in the second half. Bolivar only managed five additional points, as Haywood rolled to an easy 37 point 70-33 win.
Bolivar’s record is now 0-8 for the season.
Bolivar was scheduled to travel to Jackson Central Merry on Monday, December 14, then host Sacred Heart of Jesus on Tuesday, December 15, before taking a break until after Christmas.
