Bolivar handles Fayette-Ware in season opener

After a great start and bumpy second quarter, the Bolivar Central Tigers were finally able to settle down, and put away the Fayette-Ware Wildcats 51-33 on Friday, August 21, in Somerville.
“In the first half, we were not prepared for their offense, but were able to make the proper adjustments in the second half,” Bolivar Head Coach Woodrow Lowe said.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead when Trey Lowe connected with Cornelius Polk on a 47 yard pass on the opening play of the game. Moments later, Bolivar scored again for a quick 12-0 lead. Fayette-Ware got on the board moments later, but Bolivar managed one more score for an 18-6 lead after the first quarter.
The second quarter was all Wildcats, as they scored 13 points on a couple of long plays to take a 19-18 lead going into the break.
In the third quarter, Bolivar was able to stop the Wildcats in their opening possession, and then scored twice to give the Tigers a 30-19 lead going into the final stanza.
The Tigers scored twice again early in the fourth quarter, when Robert Crisp scored on a 61 yard run then moments later, Elijah Walton picked off a Wildcat pass and ran it back 53 yards to put Bolivar up 44-19. The Wildcats scored on their next drive, but Bolivar got the points right back for a 51-27 lead. Fayette Ware scored one more time, but it was not enough. Bolivar took the win at 51-33.
